Scott Pilgrim Movie Short Review

Ok, so I went to go see Scott Pilgrim the other day, and I'll start off by saying that I read one volume of the original graphic novel before I went to see the movie, so yes I have seen the original material, or at least some of it. Anyway, let's start the review, ok so first of all the pacing was like SUPER fast, or like at least half of the movie had super fast pacing, that wasn't really a bad thing but seriously since there's like no "transitions" per say, it's like the characters are in 7 different places in one minute. I get that it sort of had to be done since summarizing a 6 volume graphic novel into a two hour movie is pretty tricky, but like everything in volume 1 happens in like the first 10 or 15 minutes. Anyway, besides that, the movie was both hilarious and downright epic, for some reason a few people were just laughing at the whole "combo" thing or any references to video games at all but didn't laugh at any of the REAL jokes, none of those people were me or my friends but seriously, it was weird, I mean, I thought the video game references were cool, like all of the Zelda music used and stuff, but I don't understand how it was you know... funny. Either way, I really shouldn't make fun of people so I'm not gonna say anything else about the strange hipsters sitting in front of us that laughed louder then a police siren every time they made a reference to video games. Anyway, like I said the video game reference things were just kinda cool to me and especially with the "Nega Scott" thing at the end, I won't spoil anything but that was like one of my favorite parts of the movie. A friend of mine said that the movie changed a few things when it got around to the parts of the final two volumes but that was apparently because they just got the creator's early notes for those two volumes when they made the movie version. In conclusion, the pacing of the movie might be weird at the beginning, but you get used to it, they also took some stuff out, and changed a few things around the end, but to be honest it was still awesome, hilarious, and super epic, I SERIOUSLY recommend that you go see this movie.

New American Live Action Death Note Movie...

Ok so let me start this off by saying everytime there is an American live action anime movie people tell me to not pick on it until it comes out but you know what? I do that every time, yes I actually shove my mean comments aside and hope for the best but I have yet to be pleased by any of these movies, with the acception of the live action Blood the Last Vampire movie, if you didn't like it well then sorry but I loved it. Oh and since Wikipedia is a terrible source for proof, I will instead give you a link to Anime News Network reporting that... well... *sigh* ok, let me try to just get this out... Zac Efron is involved in the movie... I have yet to see anywhere confirming that he is playing Light... but all I can say is that I really hope not, anyway here's the link. I also heard on the Escapist forums that they Americanized the names, now I can't confirm this 100%, because it was a guy on the Escapist forum claiming that his friend on IMDB let him see the script and he summarized it, and if he is right then Light is now Luke, Sayu is now Sarah, Soichiro is now John, Light's mom is dead, and their last names are Murray instead of Yagami, oh and if you want to read the supposed summarry I bookmarked the topic so here's the link.

Ok so I am not to worried or upset especially since after Dragon Ball Evolution I still love DBZ just as much as I did before so I'll probably just ingore this movie and stick with the Japanese live action movies. I already discussed and nitpicked the crap out of that supposed script with three different friends so I think that reading it yourself will give you a good enough opinion of your own. Also, those Zac Efron fans out there, I wasn't commenting on his acting when I said I hope he isn't in the movie I'm just pissed that there is a posibility that all of the stupid teenage girls who love Zac Efron are going to watch the American Death Note movie and then possibly read the original manga and either hate it, or get freaked out and then... the controversy begins... and so you see it won't attract that crowd if Zac Efron isn't in it. Sorry if this post seems a bit short, I am quite busy over weekends and as I am writing this I have had a very long day and I want to go to sleep, I will try to make it up with a list but right now all I can think of is Yu Yu Hakusho and Accel 3...

Anyway, I post every other day and be sure to tell your friends about my blog since I only have like 2 visitors a day...

No More Heroes HD Remake and Live Action Gantz Movie?

Ok well I wrote this when this news was new, so let me explain how I heard about this. Well I usually watch G4 in the morning to kill some time before I have to go to school and as I was watching something caught my eye, the words No More Heroes, Xbox 360, and PS3 were all in the same sentence, it was one of those little news updates on the bottom of like any G4 show and well it said Weekly Famitsu reported that No More Heroes was being remade on the PS3 and 360. It was brief and I only read about half of it because I caught it just before it went off the screen so I just thought it might have been fake or something like that. But sure enough when I got home I checked online and... well, it's true... Apperantly though since the Xbox 360's sales in Japan are worse than the virtual boy (just an estimate, I'm sure their sales aren't THAT bad) Japan will receive the uncensored version of the game, but get this, only on the Xbox 360, it will be rated a very rare Cero Z (Cero is the Japanese rating system and think of Cero Z as the Japanese AO rating) which, of course means that the PS3 version will be censored. That just made me think "What are you doing Suda?" but here is where it gets interesting... you see Suda51 has nothing to do with this port, well to the best of my knowledge it's just Marvelous doing this. There has been no announcement for an American release but on a completely unrelated note there will be a new gameplay mode called "Super Sweet Mode" where all of the female bosses will be wearing really revealing clothing... not sure why I mentioned that but I felt like it just had to be thrown out there.

Anyway here are links to the original scans from Weekly Famitsu:

Well, I always talked about how if it was put into the right hands a live action Gantz movie would totally kick ass, now that that's acutally happened, I still feel a bit nervous. Allow me to explain, I was browsing around the Young Jump website to see if I could find a pictures of the most current Young Jump (so that my dad's friend in Japan could get me one) but I came across something else... this: http://yj.shueisha.co.jp/gantzspecial/ so I thought "Is this like an ad for Gantz Final Phase?" or "Is this like an announcement for a new season of the Gantz anime?" well no I was wrong and found out I was wrong when I tried to save the ad into my pictures and the file name was "gantz_movie_01" so naturally since the word CG was all over the ad I assumed it was a CGI gantz movie and that sounded awesome, but then I saw the name of the third Death Note movie in the corner and decided to google Gantz Movie and I found an article that said they were making two live action movies. At first when I heard they were going to be made by the same guy who made the Death Note movies I had nothing to fear until I came across one little thing in the article... "The Sponichi Annex reports that the Gantz films will be targeted at mainstream audiences, suggesting that some of the graphic violence of the original manga may be toned down for the movies." seriously read the article for yourself: http://www.animenation.net/blog/2009/10/08/live-action-gantz-movies-announced/ well, after reading that I was dissapointed and honastly if they keep the stupid nudity and sex scenes in I will be so pissed off that they couldn't make room for the violence. Either way I can't judge the movies til they come out in 2011, and I assure you if they by some strange desition either get overdubbed or officially subtitled I will watch them and hope for the best.

For more info on the Gantz live action movies just check out this article at: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-10-07/gantz-manga-being-adapted-into-live-action-film and remember I post every other day and please tell your friends about my blog.

Eureka Seven Movie Review

Well I will not be reading this weeks weekly jump for... reasons, reasons I will explain next week. So instead of that I decided to review the Eureka Seven Movie since I went to go see it on Thursday in theatres. So let's start up this review.

Ok I will admit my friend got into the theatre right about the time the movie started and he was thinking the exact same thing I was... "Did I miss something?" well no we didn't miss anything, it is simply a retelling of the story... kind of. Well think of it as an alternate universe, there. An alernate universe where Humanity's greatest enemy is called Nazo, Eureka and Renton grew up together, Nirvash is a pokem... I mean uhhh larva... or whatever they called him that can transform into a mech and their teacher is Dominic oh yeah and Holland can rip people's souls out, that is exactly as hardcore as you think it is if not more. Explaining the rest of the story would take waaaay to long and would spoil a lot for this great movie. So let me try to review this movie without giving you too many spoilers... Well, Eureka gets taken by the military and renton spends the next like 8 years trying to join the military to get her back... I think, and when he does the bitch is so wishy washy and she goes on about how worthless she is until Renton takes her back to only realize later that his crew (you knew them as Gekkostate in the anime) is now rebels of the military, after kicking some military ass he decides to join them instead of attempt to escape again. I am not going to say who but one or two of the crew members die after deserving it in such an awesome way that the crowd in the theatre actually clapped. Well since the Nazo are pretty much infesting the Earth they fire this weapon called the Hammer of God which destroys the Earth along with the Nazo while a select group of humans stay in a space station, I will not say the actual outcome of the blast because that would be major spoiler, anyway I will say this, there was a bit too much Eureka fanservice... like the scene at the end where she was naked and the scene where she was looking in the mirror but she wasn't exactly fully clothed didn't feel needed at all. The special featres at the end of the movie were great, especially the bloopers, if this comes out on dvd which I REALLY hope it does soon, I definatly recomend it.

Top 5 Anime Based Movies

To be fair I will only fill this list with one movie of each series and only movies I have seen so if your favorite anime movie is in here and it was amazing then I must have not seen it. Oh and I try not to give away the plot of these movies just in case the reader hasn't seen them yet.

5. Blood the Last Vampire
I liked both the recent live action movie (yes I went to go see it and it was much better than I thought it would be) and the original animated one. Both of them are movies that just expect you to know what's going on, well for some reason I felt like I knew more in the live action version but still, the anime that came AFTER is really good back story, no seriously, it is, and it's great. Well basically the movie is about Saya... who kills these things called... uhhh... darn I have no idea how to spell it... well here goes, Kyroptorins? Oh well, anyway she has to kill these things because they are basically demons and so she has to set everything right I guess. I don't want to give away too much so just watch the original anime one and then the live action one when it comes out on DVD, I don't think you will be disapointed.

4. Bleach Movie 1
Well it recently aired on Adult Swim and I am sure you self proclamed "true" Bleach fans have seen the fansub version a million times and have yet to buy it on dvd. But either way most Bleach fans have seen it and if you haven't, then please do because it is great! This is one of those movies that's not just "since it was a movie they will never mention it... what you think I need a reason for that? Fine it's filler... there are you happy?" It actually has a reason for the characters not mentioning the events of the movie which was both sad and brilliant. One strange thing about the movie is that Chad, Orihime, and Uryu don't even appear until like halfway through the movie, and they are just there... which was strange because if I remember correctly the other characters just act like they were there the whole time, which was very strange.

3. Naruto Movie 1
Ok yes I watched the fansub version when it was kinda new in Japan... I think I don't remember, but to make up for watching it illigally I bought the dvd, saw it in theatres, and watched it on CartoonNetwork like twice, and to be honast, it's still just as awesome as it was before, no wait seeing it in theatres was even more awesome. Why you ask? Because of the giant theatre jam packed with Naruto fans, some of which had to sit on the floor because of all of the seats taken, which wasn't a bad thing, it was a good thing, with the whole theatre laughing at whatever was funny and everyone crying at the sad parts it made the experience so much better than just watching the dvd at home. Well anyway about the actual movie, it feels less like a filler and more like an actual arc of Naruto, which is pretty damn good, and to note the second movie is good too, but I would stay away from the first shippuden movie if you can.

2. Death Note Trilogy
Well these are Live Action and even dubbed, yes Live Action Dubbed, don't worry that's not as bad as it sounds. These movies sum up pretty much half of the Death Note series in two movies, what is the third movie you ask? It's kind of like a... hmm like an L spin-off, and trust me even though it seems a little fillery it is actually really good. These movies have a great cast and they all play their parts so well, especially the actors for L and Light. Oh and did I mention the AMAZING CG used to make the Shinigami? Well it just looks awesome in the movies and just makes you feel like that is what Ryuk and Rem might have actually looked like in real life. Oh and in the English dub version they... well they make Ryuk say a few words you really can't say on TV and that really surprised the audience and made them burst out into laughter when I went to go see the first movie in theatres.

1. Afro Samurai Ressurection
Well after much thinking and constantly putting Death Note in first then this in second and then doing the opposite over and over again I decided that I liked Ressurection more. No offence Death Note movies, but Ressurection was just that good. Well to start of, this movie was a sequal to the anime series Afro Samurai... oh you people probably know that already, let me get down to the basics... The main character named Afro must collect a special headband to challenge a new villain who claims she can revive Afro's dead father and forse him to fight his own son. Afro steps up to the challenge and faces old enemies along the way, like his rival Kuma who for the most part of this movie is practiacly a mindless zombie. To add to the greatness the cast of the movie is great with Samuel L. Jackson playing Afro and his friend Ninja-Ninja and Lucy Liu playing the new villain, Sio. Overall this movie is amazing and I could not recomend this movie and the anime series that goes before it enough.
