Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep First Impressions

Ok, so you might wanna read my previous post about what I'll be doing if I come back and everything, and I was originally just gonna play some flash games today, but I decided that if today I actually have the luxury of free time, maybe I should just do a post. Anyway, here's my first Impression of Birth by Sleep... Oh and, this might have a bit of spoilers from the game, but most likely just stuff from the beginning since I'm not that far...

Alright, so when I first started up the game I realized they gave you three choices for data install (I think Peace Walker only had like two choices) after deleting and moving a few things, (including some Castlevania PSN game I can just play on my PS3 and some of the Peace Walker data install) I was able to install the 624 MB data install and load times are pretty quick, nothing to complain about really, it did take a while to install but whatever. I would seriously recommend you do the data install because from what I hear, load time without it has longer load time then a psp launch title! Anyway, for some reason I absolutely hated the cutscenes in the beginning (not all of them, just like one or two) especially Aqua's super fake laugh, I mean, I thought it was just me who noticed that until my friend was laughing his ass off over it. Now, I know saying that means that I'm going to get hate mail from Square Enix fanboys for the rest of my life, but I think the cutscenes after you leave the Land of Departure or whatever it's called were just fine. But like I said about Aqua, there is just something about the voice they chose for her that at times seems perfectly normal, but every now and again feels like she doesn't know the English language very well. Anyway, enough about having opinions that'll get me hate mail, after all this is the Internet, I'm not ALLOWED to have opinions. So yeah, the order I chose for which characters to play as is Ven, then Aqua, and then Terra, mainly because it seems like if the game didn't allow me to choose, that would probably be the order it would want me to play. I picked Terra last mainly since Terra's adventures seem to be shrouded in so much mystery, like for example, if you were given the choice to play as Riku in the original Kingdom Hearts, it would just feel weird to play as him first. I have yet to actually play the multiplayer, I at least hope it's good, um... what else is there about the game? Well, the worlds are fun, and there's plenty of new ones, in fact, so far I don't think I've run into a world that's been in a previous Kindom Hearts game before. Um... well since I'm never any good at ending things, I think I'm gonna go back to playing Jables's Adventure... I seriously wanna do a video review of like every game that guy has made... anyway, I hope to be doing more posts soon.

Random Post of Randomness

Ok, my wrists are certainly getting better, I don't wanna promise to much... but I will most likely start to get back into the regular one post every other day sometime after Comic-Con, which by the way I will be going to on the 24th. I will most likely have a few videos from Comic-Con uploaded on like the 24th (put really late) or the 25th... put I won't make any guarintees. Ok so let's get this show on the road... just random topics is all this post will be... Oh right, I almost forgot, I just wanna thank anyone who actually stuck with me and my blog even with my lack of updates, however I'm pretty sure that I'm thanking nobody because I don't think I've had people visiting my blog for a LONG time.

1. Plans for future posts:
All I can say is that because of my lack of Weekly Jump posts... I will most likely pick a random day to do one HUGE Weekly Jump post summarizing every chapter from where I left off to the current chapter... but I don't know when I'll do that.

2. Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded trailer
Ok, so if you haven't seen the trailer for Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded trailer yet then you can see it here. This trailer actually surprised me, I mean, I wanted the game because it was a chance for me to actually play coded, since I don't think I can afford a Japanese cell phone with a Japanese cell phone plan... but now that I see it's mixing in like 3 or 4 different gameplay elements I am seriously crossing my fingers for localization. Of course, on the strange off chance it will be a Japan excluse I will still import it.

3. Bleach Heat the Soul 7 Roster
Apparently the number of characters in Heat the Soul 7 was leaked by a retailer known as Game Star, and it is apparently 84 characters. Ok, I know that when Eighting announces character lists for Heat the Soul, they count transfermations, but this wasn't announced by them so this might not count transformations. Of course the key words are MIGHT NOT. Read the full article here.

4. No More Heroes 2: Hopper Edition
Final topic for this post, ok, so not only is Japan finally getting No More Heroes 2, they get a shiny awesome special edition. This special edition encludes a movie entitled "No More Heroes 1.5", a Soundtrack, and uhh some sort of art book or somethin. Oh, and apparently if you pre-order it you get an... am... am I reading this right? Uhhh, apparently if you pre-order you get an "erotica comic"... Anyway, it'll retail in Japan for something around $100 if I'm not mistaken... I am pretty sure it will be a Japan exclusive, and if it is I will still most likely be getting it. Read more info on it here.

Top 5 "Collection" Games That Need to be Made

Ok so like I said in my previous list, games don't exist so no pictures. Oh and by Collection games, I don't mean like the little case things that come with a series of games, like the Devil May Cry or Metal Gear Solid collections, I mean like the Sonic Mega Collection, or God of War Collection, or Megaman Collection games, that have several games on one disk.

5. Viewtiful Joe Collection
Yeah, I know, Viewtiful Joe is awesome and all, but it would just be 3 games (unless of course they could somehow put Double Trouble on a console...), and one of which would only be a spin-off party game. However, I do think it would be nice for Capcom to at least try to show a little love for Viewtiful Joe again, I mean is he just going to never star in a game of his own series again because Clover studios is gone? Is he just going to be a... *gulp* guest star in every Capcom game that needs to add some variety because they only feel like putting 1 Darkstalker character in it, well? Is he?!?! Sorry I flew off the handle there, anyway I think it would be nice for Capcom to at least show some love to the series they forgot because it didn't make them as much money as Megaman... but whatever it's a business, at least Capcom listens to their fans (sometimes) unlike SEGA, who just seem to fold their feedback letters into origami cranes and then burn them for warmth. Oh, and as for the system I would want this to be on, I would have to say, a Wii version that would come with the Gamecube version of Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2, as well as Red Hot Rumble, and then maybe a PS3 version that sort of polishes the graphics (not like AMAZINGLY polish them, just make them a bit shinier) of the ps2 versions of Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2 and the psp version of Red Hot Rumble.

4. Capcom Vs. Series Collection
I ALMOST but this as number 5, but then I realised how awesomely badass it would be to play all of the _____ Vs. Capcom games on one disk, I would have to DEFINITELY buy an arcade stick for a game like that. Now, I just thought of one fatal flaw, and that is, well, since it probably wouldn't be on the Wii, it probably wouldn't contain the entire Vs. Series because I don't think they would want to make a PS3/360 version of Tatsunoko Vs Capcom. Oh and even though I hate playing fighting games on the 360, but if there were a market for a Vs. Series collection among Xbox gamers, then I wouldn't mind having this one be a multi-platform game. I really am not sure what else to say about this... so let's move on to number 3!

3. Kingdom Hearts Collection
Ok, now this would just be awesome, obviously much like the God of War Collection this game would be on the PS3 since the games in it were on the PS2, and it would probably be able to have every Kingdom Hearts game besides 358/2 Days. That means Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, as well as Birth By Sleep and obviously there would be no problem with RE: Chain of Memories, but it would be really cool to have the original GBA version of Chain of Memories (you know IF they could). Oh, and it would be freakin awesome if we could get both of the Kingdom Hearts Mobile Phone games, even though they probably sucked, I still think it would be cool to at least have them in there. However, the Japanese and American versions would have to differ slightly, the Japanese version would have the "Final Mix" version of each game and the American version probably couldn't, well I mean Kingdom Hearts (1) Final Mix is basically the American version with like... one more boss... or one more something... but actually, if they were willing to put subtitles on Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix +, and make the menus in English that would be pretty sweet, I mean it already has the English voice actors in it... or... wait, it does right? I can't believe I don't know that and I actually OWN the game...

2. Klonoa Collection
If your pissed off about a Kingdom Hearts collection being under a Klonoa collection on my list you clearly don't know me at all, it's like being mad at me for saying I like Darkstalkers more than I like Street Fighter or Guilty Gear, or when I say I would prefer to play Ape Escape over Okami, because Okami, Street Fighter, and Guilty Gear are AMAZING games, but games like Klonoa, Darkstalkers, and Ape Escape will always hold a special place in my heart. So obviously, a Klonoa collection is just one of those things I wish Namco would get off their asses and do... sadly I don't think Klonoa is very profitable to them so it is only but a dream. Ha! Wow, I actually didn't notice until at least a minute after I typed that, that Klonoa basically has to do with dreams and stuff... and I just realized right now that is wasn't actually very funny so I'm just gonna go on... Anyway, the games it would include would be Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil, Klonoa 1 & 2 for the GBA, Klonoa: Moonlight Museum (the Wonderswan Game), and maybe Klonoa: Beach Volleyball, and yes that really does exist, but it's only available in Europe and Japan, however I hear it's not very good. As for the system... hmmm... Probably the Wii, yeah that would be good.

1. Persona Collection
Ok, sorry if I run out of words quickly in this one, because I always seem to not have anything to say for whatever number 1 is on all of my lists. Alright, so just try to picture this, Persona 1-4 (including any spin-offs or... uhhh whatever you call the things like FES) in one filled to the brim Blu-ray disk... or... oooh... maybe they would need two... nah 40 gigs (or 80 if it's dual layered) would be enough... right? Anyway, when I said Blu-ray, I was implying that this game should (obviously) be on the PS3 since all of the Persona games before it were on Sony consoles. That would be like a lifetime of gameplay, wait hold up let me check how many games there are in the series... 12 including spin-offs, and not including the regular edition of Persona 3, wow... could you simply imagine the hours people would spend on this ONE collection, I mean the price would have to be pretty steep, but I would be willing to pay quite the high price for 12 Persona games on my PS3. Like I said before I seem to be at a shortage of words... Well I'll end on this, as I was writing this list, I actually realised I left out several awesome series that should get collection games made for them, so I might do a second list, meaning don't think of this as really a "top" 5 list, since the next one will probably have an Ape Escape collection in it, and in my opinion that would be nowhere near number 6 on a top 10 list, it would probably be in the top 3, if not just simply number one, it would at least have to be in the top 3...

Top 5 PS2 RPGs (That I Own)

Ok, so... uhh, I left out a few RPGs that I have and for good reasons, reasons I would rather not explain, games I left out would include... Kingdom Hearts 1, the original .hack series, every final fantasy game, and Star Ocean. So yeah... let's get this started.

5. Disgaea 2

Well, what to say about Disgaea 2 without first mentioning the original, which will also be on the list... In my opinion I think Disgaea 2 was still a good game but simply not as good as the original, not drastically I mean I certainly don't HATE Disgaea 2, I mean if I did then why would it be on this list? Anyway, one reason I sort of saw it as a game not as good as the original (I just used the word as like 3 times in that sentence didn't I?) is because I was so ready to see the continued adventures of Laharl and friends and to see what happens after the ending and to see which ending was the one that counts and all that good stuff to just start off a new adventure with all new characters and not get my answers as to what happens after the "real" ending until Prinny came out, which by the way was after Disgaea 3. But I got over that since the characters are likable and the story is interesting. However, my main complaint is the grinding is a little... awkword... lemmie evaluate, you see you can sort of go through the first few levels without having to grind, then you reach a point that after each level (or board or whatever) you need to grind a bit, but the previous level doesn't give you enough XP and the Item worlds are either too hard or too easy, and trust me when it gets really hard to grind at the BEGINING of the game it get's really frustrating.

4. Disgaea

Ok so here it is, the original, I told you it was on the list and it's right under Disgaea 2 on the list. Obviously, like I said before I like the original more, but it always brings that thought in my head... "so if their like 1,000 and something years old and they look like kids... is 1,000 years like 10 for them or like how do they age?" but whatever let's not over analyze things like that. Anyway, I think the characters in this game are likable, the story may be kinda... well cliche in ways but it's like a good cliche, kinda like Gurren Lagann, it doesn't take itself too seriously so you don't feel like you need to look away from the screen every cutscene and jump up in fear if someone comes in and then pretend like you weren't playing it because your embarassed because it feels like watching an old Pokemon movie, it feels kinda like the writer knows that it's like that and constantly makes fun of his own writing, which is in a way, kinda fun to watch. Also, in my opinion the voice acting was pretty damn good in this game and was just as good (if not better) than the Japanese voice acting, even though everyone seems to think that the English voice actors are terrible. Also I don't think I mentioned the gameplay have I? Well it's kinda like a game of chess mixed with a turn based strategy game, which maybe doesn't sound awesome but trust me it is, it's kind of a way to put a spin on turn based combat to make it less like just clicking and more strategic, and the grinding issue in Disgaea 2 doesn't exist here, it seems like when you need to do some grinding you just go to an item world and you can find one that isn't too hard and isn't too easy.

3. Persona 3

I know what your all thinking, you want to kill me for this not being number 1, and I am sure it won't help at all when you see what number 2 is... but honestly it took me like 20 minutes of just thinking so that I could place this game and the number 2 game in order of preference. Ok so enough apolgizing, let me get to how awesome this game is. Well, for starters the anime cutscenes are probably among my favorite video game cutscenes ever, and the combat isn't just turn based, it has the whole "weaknesses" element of gameplay which sort of makes you think and plan out your moves instead of just click 10 times, and the "dungeons" are fun to adventure around in, and not to mention the enemy encounters aren't just random, you see the enemies in the dungeon and you can choose to either just run like hell and hope it doesn't catch up with you, or maybe you could attack it first and get the upper hand, or it could get the upper hand by attacking you first, and so that your grinding doesn't get too boring they have little challenges called Elizabeth Requests so while you, say look for 3 of some item dropped only by certain enemies, while you look for said enemy for the reward you can kill everything in sight, so with a goal set it kind of makes the expirience less boring. Also, the story is really interesting and the "sim" aspects of the game make it really fun as well, but sadly in the (for now) Japan only remake of Persona 3 on the psp took out all of the sim aspects, which I hope was just for space and not on purpose.

2. .Hack//G.U.

Ok, like I said I bet if I had more than 1 reader I would get alot of angry comments of people saying that they want to kill me for making this number 2 and making Persona 3 number 3... but honestly if I could just have 2 number 2's then I would but I can't I had to put them in order of preference and honestly I like .Hack//G.U. a little bit more, I'm not sure if it's because I like the combat system more, or because I played G.U. recently and it's been a while since I played Persona 3, or because I like the "your playing a game about a kid playing an online game but the game your really playing isn't online like the one he is..." yeah sounds confusing but you get it once you play, and even if turn based combat does have a twist on it to make it less boring I still prefer real time combat in RPGs like in G.U. and I also like it how practically everytime you need to majorly grind you get a little e-mail from someone that says something like "Hey I found a new area that will be perfect for grinding at our specific level" and that's just awesome. I seriously love this game and when I look at all of the hours I spent on Volume 1, I realize that I'm probably not even half way done with it, and I have 2 other volumes to go.

1. Kingdom Hearts 2

Yeah, I said I didn't count the original Kingdom Hearts so... obviously that meant I had Kingdom Hearts 2 on this list, and being the amazingly awesome game it is I just had to put it on this list. Also, I am always proud to say this with a smile on my face, I pre-ordered this game 2 years before it came out and got the very last copy, and this was at Gamecrazy where it isn't "first come, first serve" or at least it wasn't like that for major releases so I was actually on a list and just so happened that my number was the exact same number of copies they got the day it came out. Also, it was probably the most anticipated game of not only that year but probably my whole life, then again there was Brawl... but whatever I don't even need to explain the game mechanics, or how awesome the story is, or how great the story is, because honestly I can't explain all of it without going on for like 3 paragraphs and it would just be a waste of everyones time because I am pretty damn sure that like 98% of people who own or have ever owned or know anyone who has a ps2 have played this game, so you all know how fun it is hitting enemies with a giant key in Disney themed worlds allied with Final Fantasy characters.

My Top 3 DS RPG Games (That I own)

Ok, I am doing this post on a Monday, and I am super busy on Mondays so I need to hurry this up...

3. Megaman Battle Network 5 Double Team

Ok so I like the battle network games in a different way than the other Megaman games, most people just don't like Megaman as an RPG and I totally understand that but I really like the Battle Network series, I can't keep up with the new ones and I'm not sure if they are any good but I liked 3, 4 and especially 5, it was one of those games that my brother got the version everyone got and then I got the other one, that actually wasn't ever a bad thing, I always liked getting the "other" version. Ok so bottom line, I really like it but it's not number one on my list, now let's get down to number 2!

2. Pokemon Pearl

Like I said before I always got the "other" game, even though my brother didn't get Diamond, I just HAD to get Pearl to sort of not break the tradition, which is the reason I will be getting Soul Silver instead of Heart Gold. As a gamer with soooo many games of so many genres I sort of go through "phases" and right now I am going through an RPG "phase" so I have been playing nothing but Pokemon for like the last month. With all of the parody that comes with Pokemon and how much I think the anime sucks I must admit that the games are made by Nintendo so they are just simply awesome. The grinding doesn't take too long but when I resumed my old file I found my Prinplup to be at least 10 levels above all of my other Pokemon so right now I am just trying to create a balanced team. The fact that my friend has Platinum, it kind of pisses me off since he just takes the amazing things added to the game as like a "Oh you don't have _______ in Pearl? That sucks." but I am saving up and cannot afford Platinum... anyway back on topic I really recommend this to someone who needs a good old RPG to take with them wherever they go to pass the time, worked wonders for me when I was waiting for my food at a restaurant.

1. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

This should have been obvious, I mean come on, it's like a ps2 game that you can take with you on your DS, I'm not sure about you but that sounds awesome to me. Honestly this game is so awesome there really isn't much to say but, if you thought Chain of Memories was a good portable Kingdom Hearts game, then this will blow you away. I seriously am just trying to think of things to say about this game's awesomeness, but I would probably go on for an hour, but let me just try to find a few things to say. Well, for starters I am almost speechless about this game and I probably haven't even finished half of the game. And uh, well, seriously it's just a Kingdom Hearts game practically as good as a console game but on your DS, that's amazing. Although I do think that Birth By Sleep will be even better... hmmmm maybe I should make a psp RPG list...

New Birth By Sleep Trailer and NeoToonami Intro

Today's post will be short in words but you have two videos to watch so it's not so bad, the reason it is so short is because I was originally not going to do a post for today but what the heck I'll just go with this, and with Birth By Sleep on the way then I might as well post this new shiny new trailer.

Oh and by "intro" for NeoToonami I meant the intro for one of the shows that will be on NeoToonami, Gurren Lagann:

Top 5 Games That Push the Limit of the Disk/Cartridge

Well I felt like my blog has been lacking lists lately and mainly lists about video games, with pictures, so instead of doing what I was going to today (make a post about how awesome Dr. Tran is) I will be doing a list. Oh and by "Push the Limit" I mean the kinda game that obviously takes up sooooo much space on the disk/cartridge you can barely believe that it fits.

5. Little Big Planet

Ok the reason this is number five is because, well yes you can do just about anything but you can have up to 50 gigs on a ps3 blu-ray so you have alot of room for creativity and DLC. But like I said you can pretty much do anything and when you see something that you thought could simply not be done, you will see people who surpassed even that. I think EVERY PS3 owner should have this game.

4. Okami

Well I bought Okami on my Wii because I heard it was really good and I spent hours on it and realized it was much better than good, it was absolutly amazing. Oh and it's made by Clover Studios, the creators of God Hand and Viewtiful Joe. When I thought the game was over after fighting a "final boss" I am aloud into the other half of the freaking continent, yeah and I am pretty sure that after you beat the next almost last boss your going to have alot more to do but I am not that far yet.

3. Naruto Accel 3

Well this game isn't out yet but come on, have you seen the graphics? On the psp? Oh and not to mention the RPG story mode and all of those characters, as well as 4 player mode, and versus mode, and an original (side) story (yes it's only optional don't freak out), on the PSP! I honastly cannot wait for this game to come out and I know it will be great (especially with my Adhoc Party PS3 app).

2. Persona 3 FES

Ok there is a reason I specificly put FES, because the normal version of Persona 3 had so much content that it made you feel like the disk couldn't handle even a textbox more, and yet they came out with FES that added to and tweaked the game so much that now you think they could not fit more. Well let's start off with me saying that I have not finished Persona 3 yet but with 20 hours of gameplay and I only just beat the second boss, I think I can tell it's a pretty damn long game, either that or I have been playing Disgaea too much and most of those hours were just extreme grinding. Oh and if I didn't mention before FES added a whole new FULL STORY MODE so it is really a great buy, especially since I got a brand new copy of FES for $20.

1. Kingdom Hearts 358/2

Ok you totally saw this coming if you saw the first cutscene, if you have ever played a DS game in your life then you should notice that not even Kingdom Hearts 2 cutscenes looked that good, but that's not for every cutscene so don't get too excited. Well look at the DS and think of games like Ninja Destiny 2 or if you want to call it a game, Ping Pals, and then play 358/2 days and you will realize that it is just AMAZING for a DS game. This game is so good that all of my friends who get it become addicted and just cannot stop playing, I however have alot of stuff to do along with alot of other games to play (One Piece Unlimited Cruise 1 finally came in the mail yesterday).

Well, remember I post every other day so keep checking for updates, well now back to Unlimited Cruise!

Top 5 Games to Play on the Go

Well I promised an actual post today and here is a new list since I am feeling better.

5. Bleach Soul Carnival (psp)
Ok, well... the reason this game is number 5 is because grinding can get a bit repetitive... but the good old slash em up style of gameplay is great when your in the car, on the bus, or in a restaurant. Oh and the music also helps when your in a place you can actually hear your headphones. I of course cannot say the same for the animated cutscenes... they aren't bad their just... uhhh... well... hmm kinda like a flash video, they look like the anime but the lip movement and hand movement is just... uhhh ok well if you have the game you know exactly what I mean.

4. Bleach Heat the Soul 6 (psp)
Well a bleach fighter with 73 characters on the go is just awesome, especially when movie characters and turn back the pendulum characters are included. Surprisingly enough if you have a Japanese PSN account you can download DLC from the Japanese PSN store, I think the DLC has something to do with S ranked or SSS ranked (if that exists) tournimants, however I only have up to A ranked tournimants.

3. Prinny (psp)
Ok remember when I said repetitivness or something back on number 5... yeah well if you are not a hardcore gamer, and I mean like someone who has beat every classic megaman game with ease, then this game is going to piss you off, it's not repetitive, in fact it's very fun but like I said EXTREMELY HARD I myself am stuck on the last boss (second form) on standard mode. Oh and yes Standard mode is the easy mode but there are only two difficulties, Standard, where you take 3 hits and Hell's Finest, where you take 1 hit... so... yes it's very hard.

2. Jump Ultimate Stars (DS)
Well, if your a Jump fan this game is great, and if you know Japanese on top of that, this is probably one of the best games to have on the go. Well, to start off if you don't know Japanese playing this game can be a bit difficult because of missions and objectives and what not. Oh and if you beat the game and got most of the objectives of the missions it might kind of get a bit boring on the go with no online play.

1. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (DS)
Ok, this game just came out and what can I say about it? Well if you want to know really just read my previous post... Anyway, it is basically what you would think but better, a Kingdom Hearts game on your DS. This game is just too good for words honastly, I really do not know at all what to say except that it is just purely awesome.

Well that concludes todays post, sorry if it seemed short but, I'm going to go back to playing 358/2 days.
