Higurashi When They Cry Original PC Game First Impression/Short Review

Ok, so this game is basically just a sound novel... like a book with music... well it has pictures... sort of... so anyway, it may be a little difficult to review, and I skipped school today since I'm feeling sick so I don't know how long I can keep up this typing since I really just want to rest, but I feel bad for taking so many days off earlier. Well, where do I start? Hmmm... I got the official English translation of the game from a company called mangagamer, which is a company that you would probably only know if you are a pervert or a Higurashi fan since a lot of the PC games they translate are apparently... uhh... not for kids... luckily though, they now have an all ages section AND an adult section, instead of having it all in one website like it used to be, which is way better because even though the website still looks suspicious, my parents will at least... I hope, not think I'm buying anything adult... Which would suck, and just to clarify Higurashi is not adult but I wouldn't say it's exactly... "all ages", there is kind of a conversation between Keiichi and Mion in the beginning that is sort of... suggestive, and it is like a MURDER mystery game so yeah. Anyway, some of the music had to be replaced, I'm not sure how much and I did hear a few songs that got taken out and from what I heard of both versions the new ones are certainly not bad at all. Also, there was some stuff in the games that were taken out of the anime, and I noticed a lot of them but most of them where little conversations that seemed like they were what would regularly be cut, but I hear they cut a few important things but I'm not sure yet. The game so far is hilarious and downright awesome, and when my carpel tunel acts up (possibly from typing these posts) and I can't play Galaxy 2 without being in constant pain, I just play Higurashi because all you need to do is click... Anyway sorry if this was short... or... was it short? I don't know, but I'm gonna go back to taking a nap, then maybe I'll play Cannon Spike, which yes actually came in on Tuesday, and I ordered it on Sunday... Awesome right? Anyway, like I said... feelin sick... gonna end the post here...

My thoughts on Dragon Ball Z Kai

Ok so Dragon Ball Z Kai aired in America on Monday so let me just give you my impression on the dub, and Kai itself since I hadn't even watched it until it premiered on Monday. I don't mean I haven't seen Dragon Ball Z because I grew up watching DBZ and original Dragon Ball, I just haven't seen Kai before. So like the first thing I noticed was that the intro was in English, which certainly isn't a bad thing, in fact I like it having an English lyric version since... I don't know it feels more like the original Dragon Ball, but right after I heard the intro for a few seconds I thought... "wait... is that Vic Mignogna singing?" and I don't even know if it was I mean I could be wrong, but if it is... then the intro just got like 10 times cooler. Anyway, I think a few people MIGHT have gotten voice actor changes but I'm not totally sure if those characters showed in the first two episodes, however I think that since Christopher Sabat played like half the cast of DBZ most characters getting new voice actors are those who were played by him, but it's ok because I mean he is still playing Piccolo, but I don't know if he is gonna still play Yamcha, Shenron, Kami, Zarbon, Burter, Recoome, or Mr. Popo. Anyway, I thought it was really good and I can't exactly compare it to the original since it has been AGES since I saw the original. However, I can say that those old fashioned "parodied to much super dramatic reaction shots while the really shiny background is constantly moving" things really brought back memories as I had practically forgot that they really were used, and used like that in older anime. Anyway I am writing this post before the other two new episodes air on Tuesday so I have yet to see those... so I guess... oh wait, I almost forgot, a lot of people might bitch about this, but honestly I don't mind that much I actually found it kinda funny, there is a scene in the first episode where Master Roshi is drinking beer, but in this version, he was drinking milk, I totally thought they were just gonna make it orange juice or water, but milk was just funny. There was an edit that kinda bugged me though, they took out Bardock's scar... which is kinda weird... you know since Avatar was RIGHT after Kai and Zuko (a character from Avatar for those who don't know) has a huge freakin burn mark on his face, but whatever I'm just glad Kai is on TV so I'm gonna be grateful and not bitch about every little edit. Well, sorry if this post was kinda short, thankfully I have an idea or two for future posts, and after tomorrow I will be able to read weekly jump chapters again so yeah, like I said sorry if this was kinda short.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 First Impressions

Ok, I seriously have no idea how I pryed myself off of my bed from playing this game to go on my computer and type this post. But somehow I did and here I am, well Galaxy 2 came out today... or yesterday since these posts come out the day after I write em, well anyway it came out and to me at least it seems like everybody was to busy playing their PS3s or 360s and whatnot to even notice this badass game even exists. And even though my friends might be playing their Left for Dead, Modern Warfare, or in my brother's case Red Dead Redemption, I still show some love to the good ol' turtle killing, mushroom eating, goomba stomping red hatted plumber. So as you can obviously tell I love the game, and with new additions like Yoshi, a few new power ups, and that... drill... thing... how can you not love it? Anyway, I hadn't realised until I read it in a gaming magazine (either Game Informer or Nintendo Power or something like that) that you weren't able to ride on Yoshi for like any of the 3D platforming Mario games besides Sunshine, but as I previously mentioned that changes now that you can ride on Yoshi in Galaxy 2. Oh, and the Yoshi parts are just freakin awesome they are really fun. I almost forgot to mention how the game starts you out, which is pretty interesting, for like the first bit of gameplay you're on a 2D plane as you learn the basic controls, which is kinda cool. The core gameplay is the same as the first Galaxy game, so if you played the first one, then the constant reminder in like every other level of how to spin will only get in your way. I really don't know what else to say and to be honest I really just want to get back to playing it right now so, sorry if this post was kinda short, but the game is awesome and yeah I gotta get back to it.

My Weekend Wishlist... Or whatever

I am tired, want to relax and out of ideas, and cannot read the weekly jump til like Monday, so this post is probably gonna be pretty short. Ok so basically I am just gonna talk about the three... no wait, four games I will be getting on Sunday. Sorry but no pictures... I may add them in later... but that's not a promise.

Ok, so first off is the only game on this list that I will actually be buying at the store, and that of course is Super Mario Galaxy 2. Alright, I fondly remember staying up for at least a day and half doing nothing but playing Super Mario Galaxy, only stopping to eat and use the bathroom, when the game first came out. However I later thought during one of my vacations, "hmmm, was the game really THAT good?" and decided to replay it and should have been ashamed of myself to even consider it not being as amazing as I remembered. So obviously that means I am super psyched for Galaxy 2, especially with games like Super Mario 64 practically defining my childhood (well, that and Ape Escape and Digimon, but whatever). So yeah I seriously can't wait for it to come out.

The second game is something that I might set aside an hour or two to play on Sunday if I can even get myself to somehow stop playing Galaxy 2 at all, and it is the English (Mangagamer) version of the original Higurashi game, well the first 4 arcs in one game that is. Since I had all of my questions about the game answered (quite quickly) on the Mangagamer forums I am now 100% sure that I will get the game now. I really don't know what to say at all about the game... uhhh, well for those of you who don't know, it is the sound novel (sound novel is what it's called right?) that the famous Higurashi anime and manga are based on, so the games are Higurashi in their original form, that's pretty much why I want to get them, especially since people say that the anime and manga took out a lot of important stuff out for some reason. Uh, I guess that's it... on to the next game then I suppose.

The third game I will most likely be getting is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure for the good ol' Dreamcast. I am buying this game for several reasons, 1: because I need a good fighting game for my Dreamcast since I have like no fighting games on that console at all and I simply cannot afford to buy Marvel Vs Capcom 2 since I'm not filthy rich and 2: I have been curious about JoJo's Bizarre Adventure games for quite the long time and I have been always saying "oh yeah I'll get one later" but screw that I have the freakin money so I wanna get it NOW. I seriously have yet to play a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure game and I feel bad, plus I totally just wanna learn every single combo possible with Dio and pwn my friends with my... you know what attack...

The fourth and final game is one my friend seems to remember fondly as one of his favorite games of all time, Cannon Spike. After he told me how awesome the game was and that you can play as B.B. Hood, a Darkstalkers character, I just saw like one gameplay video and I was SOLD! But, whenever I set aside the money to try and win a bid on the game I always lost, so since I am tired of losing bids on this game time and time again, I'm just gonna get a buy it now... I really hope there are still copies by Sunday... Anyway, for those of you who have no clue what Cannon Spike is, well it's like a shoot em' up by Capcom for the Dreamcast and is quite the rare game. Since I am a big fan of both Capcom and shoot em' up games... well you can tell where I am going with this.

I suppose this post wasn't... THAT short... but if you think it was then uhh... sorry, I already said why it was so short at the beginning of the post so yeah...

Naruto Arena Tips and My Current Obsession

Running out of ideas sucks... so, I just decided for today's post to give you two of my preferred teams on Naruto Arena (an online game... SORT OF like a card game I suppose, you can find it here on this website) as well as a few Naruto-Arena tips and a link to a creepy yet awesome Japanese song I seriously can't stop listening to. Ok so first let me give you the team I use, and yes both teams I will suggest are starter characters:
Team 1:
Kankuro
Hinata
Obito
Strategy:
Ok, so this team might not be like Hokage level awesome, but I'm pretty good with them. I usually rely a lot on chip type balancing, meaning that you don't want characters like young Kakashi on your team while you have Hinata for two major reasons, 1: young Kakashi uses the same chakra chips as Hinata for one of his attacks (or possibly two if I'm not mistaken) and so you will most likely just push one character aside for the whole match and 2: Hinata already uses two chakra chips for one of her attacks, and Kankuro uses 3 for his really powerful attack, so your third character in this team would need to have at least one attack that would use only 1 chakra chip to do extra little damage along the way, which thankfully Obito has. Anyway, the strategy with this team is that if you hopefully don't go first, and you get... I think it was a bloodline chip, or something, you prepare Kankuro, use Hinata's Byakugan, and either use Obito's fire attack (Gokakyu no Jutsu right? or am I misspelling it?) or if you can use his Sharingan. Then you pretty much just rely on affliction damage, and I think one of Hinata's attacks even steals chakra but I can't recall. But like I said this team isn't amazing and in fact the next team I will be telling you about was the team my friend used to totally kick this team's ass the other day.

Team 2:
Shikamaru
Neji
Choji
Strategy:
Ok this strategy is gonna be a lot shorter then what I wrote about the first team, because the way this team works is simple, Shikamaru stuns, Neji steals chakra, and Choji is there for nothing but brute strength. And the thing about it is, well people seem to underappreciate Shikamaru and fear Choji, as well as see him as a vulnerable target, just so long as you use that first turn to take an Akimichi pill or whatever they are called, so while they fire all they have at Choji (like I did... oh stupid, stupid me...) Neji is stealing chakra and Shikamaru is stunning, so then when they are stunned and out of chakra, BAM! hit em' with all you got using Choji.

Ok so like I said at the beginning, there is this song I just can't stop listening to and I wanted to share it with you all, I actually wanted to embed the video into my post but either my computer is acting up or youtube is acting up so I can just link you to it. But to be fair, it is a little creepy... and gruesome... not that much but still... so maybe I don't really want to embed it, so I warned you, I mean it is called Alice of Human Sacrifice... so... yeah if you're still interested then click here, but if you get nightmares then don't blame me because I warned you.

Wonderswan Color First Impressions/Short Review (FINALLY)

Ok, after waiting a crap ton of time for my Wonderswan and keeping it a bit of a secret here, it is finally in and the secret is out. For those of you who don't know what a Wonderswan is, it was basically Bandai's response to the Gameboy. I'm guessing that since Bandai owned a lot (yes, I realise that up until today I have been using a lot as one word and I just now caught my mistake... so shut up...) of famous anime at the time, or at least I'm pretty sure they did, then maybe they thought they would have a broader appeal in Japan alone what with anime not being as popular in America yet, which could be why they only released it in Japan but that is just my guess. Anyway, since it is a Bandai system there are plenty of licenced anime games for it, however, only one of the games I bought with it was licenced. Since I wanted to do a little review of the system I figured that if I wanted to buy two games with it, I would get a color game and a black & white game and I wanted to get a licenced anime game and just a regular game, so the two games I got were Klonoa: Moonlight Museum (probably the main reason I wanted a Wonderswan in the first place) and One Piece: Swan Colosseum (this is the color game). And so far, I actually like both, but if I had to choose right now one to play more of, I would say Klonoa, not because the One Piece game is bad, certainly not that, it's just that I haven't gotten used to the controls and whatnot yet so I'm sure it'll get addicting once I get the hang of it, but until then, Moonlight Museum is so far just like the first gameboy game so I really like, but we'll see how challenging those puzzles get later on in the game. Oh, also I scored this system and these games for pretty cheap, I got em on eBay from... hmmm... what was his name? I think it was game agora... or maybe there was an underscore between the words (like this game_agora) or something, I don't remember. Ok now let's get to the interface... or whatever you call it of the system, or just basically the system itself... whatever let's just get down to it, so it is A LOT smaller then I thought it would be, I mean for some reason I was expecting it to be the size of my Gamegear, but it's like the size of a Gameboy Advance. Oh and speaking of Gamegear, it has that weird screen lighting problem the Gamegear had but to a lesser extent with Klonoa, I guess that's because it is just a regular Wonderswan game. Also, the buttons are a bit weird, like it has the standard b first, then a like an NES controller, but instead of a d pad with just like arrows for buttons or whatever, the d-pad buttons are x buttons, like up is x1 and down is x3, then on top of that d-pad is another one with y buttons, where up on that one is y1 and down is y3, however I am guessing that with most games you use the x d-pad since so far the two games I played used them as the d-pad. Oh and it only runs on one AA battery, I don't know how fast the batteries get drained but it only runs on one of em so that is pretty convenient. I don't know what else to say... Hmmm... I guess that's it, and so far I am loving my Wonderswan, hopefully you can begin to look forward to some Wonderswan game reviews by me in the future. Oh snap, before I end this post, I just started a level of Klonoa where the screen turns sideways and you use the x d-pad as regular controls and the y d-pad as, well, a d-pad... so forget what I said about not using the y buttons I suppose.

Monster Hunter Tri Online First Impression

Ok, so I was gonna type up this post yesterday after all of my friends left... but oh big surprise there was a freakin power outage... So yeah sorry about today's post being late and all. Sorry if this post is a little short, the uhhh... thing I was planning on doing my post about came in the mail but they couldn't just leave it at my doorstep apparently so I have to pick it up at the post office since I wasn't home when it arrived and I had no other post ideas besides this. Anyway, I tried Monster Hunter Tri's online mode the other day, and allow me to tell you what I thought of it, or rather just my experience for my very first online playthrough. Well, it started off with a really long like 10 minute unskippable (or at least I'm pretty sure it was unskippable) cutscene showing off how apparently amazing the city is, then you pick a server... or wait... I think you pick a server first... well, it doesn't matter, since it was my first time online, I just picked a newbie server and decided to join a party that said "all welcome". The first thing I realised, well either due to my bad luck or maybe just the fact that it was a newbie server and the party I joined was just an "all welcome" party, was that I was the only one with a Wii Speak Mic... I was just like "am I the only one with a mic? Or do u guys just have em unplugged?" and I got no response so I said something like "I know you don't have mics plugged in but dammit I'm sure at least one of you can type a message" and still no response, so I just looked around the city, no teammates in sight and then I went to the "tavern" and started a quest by myself. I picked a level 1 mission where all you had to do was kill Jaggi or something but I realised that it took like 4 times the regular shots (yes I use a bowgun now if I never mentioned that before) to kill them and at first I didn't know why, but I think I actually know now... every enemy is probably alot stronger online since you are supposed to be fighting them with four players... so yeah going solo was a bad idea sort of... Oh also, I could have sworn that Tri was a pay to play game where it would cost you 500 Wii points (which is basically $5) for a month, but it didn't ask me to pay for anything so... yeah... maybe it's just like free for the first month or something... I don't know, but either way I still have that 500 Wii points card for pre-ordering the game so I'm set either way. Anyway, like I said sorry this post was a bit shorter then you guys are used to but I am seriously running out of ideas here.

Little Kuriboh Video Time!

I am barely awake right now and am super tired from testing but I took all of last week off so this is better then nothing... r... right? So here are some new videos from Little Kuriboh, two of which are music videos that I have been watching excessively.

First off is a charity video where LK will be auctioning off some Yu-Gi-Oh cards, as well as signing them himself for whoever wins and he will also donate the money he got from bidding the cards. The auction ends the day this post is uhhh... posted or whatever, but it ends at like 10pm pacific time if I am not mistaken...

The next is a rap battle between Yugi and Jaden, in my opinion regular Yugi's rap kinda sucked... but Yami's was freakin awesome.

I don't know what to comment about this one, it is awesome though, at least in my opinion it's pretty awesome.

Random Recommendation Post!

Ok I'm gonna be honest, I had plans to talk about something import related but... It hasn't come in the mail yet and I want to keep it a little secret sort of so... I am just gonna be recommending a game I have been playing lately when I haven't been studying and dealing with RL... things... Ok so, out of all of the Ape Escape games, Ape Escape 2 was the one I played the least since I only used to rent it and up until some time last year I never officially owned it, so I remembered very little of it. I jumped into the game with virtually no memories of it and it was alot more different then I thought it was... It is certainly not bad at all, but out of the Ape Escape "Trilogy" (well it could be a quadrilogy... or whatever you would call it if you count Million Monkeys... then there is also Big Mission... but let's just not count that one right now either) it is certainly the odd one out. Why, you ask... well, that's sort of a tough one to answer... Hmmm... Well, first of all the look of the game... or more important the look of the monkeys is just a bit... strange... I don't know maybe it's just me. Also, the last few gadgets just kinda seemed like... I don't know... like they didn't belong in Ape Escape, I mean a water canon and a big magnet... like... really? However, I will admit that magnet gadget made the Specter stage alot funner. I also really liked the bosses in this game, even though I found some of them a bit to easy (for example: I beat the Pink Monkey battle in practically record time since she was so damn easy) but I did enjoy the Goliath battle, reminded me of Good old Ape Escape 1. I have yet to fight the real final boss since I stopped the game after Specter's Moon Base so I have no comment on that boss, but the Red Monkey battle was pretty awesome, I mean he has an attack where he throws a dinosaur at you, yes you heard me right, he literally picks up a dinosaur and SLAMS IT BACK TO THE GROUND, so that should be a pretty big selling point since it was so badass. This sort of turned into a short review of Ape Escape 2 didn't it? Well, sorry if this was sort of small for my first post after like a week, but I am so tired right now and I need to be getting proper sleep or whatever for testing and whatnot, so sorry... If I can think of a good list idea I might post a list this week, but I can't read this week's Weekly Jump since I am getting an actual copy of it from my dad's friend in Japan, and this time I am more sure that he will get it for me then last time...

Last Week in Weekly Jump

Ok I am a week behind, and how appropriate since there is no Weekly Jump this week, so let's get this outta the way.

Naruto Chapter 492

Current Fight: None

- Ok so we left off as Naruto met Killer Bee on the boat ride over to the island.

- Naruto greets him with a "hey, yo" as Killer Bee checks his "Rhyme Book" and we see that "hey, yo" has been crossed off.

- Killer Bee sings a bit of "Enka Rap" which is Enka singing (I'm gonna be honest I do not know what Enka singing is) with a Rap beat, I only brought this up because I found it interesting and hope to actually know what it sounds like when the anime gets this far... or wait... are we at the Killer Bee part in the anime yet? Oh well...

- They are greeted by an angry giant gorilla (of course named "King-chan"... might I remind you that Nintendo got sued for Donkey Kong before... well, then again Universal lost that case horribly so maybe they learned their lesson) which Killer Bee simply calms down by saying the leaf ninja are with him.

- Apparently the island is where Killer Bee learned to control his Biju and he actually also tamed all of the animals on the whole damn island as well.

- Naruto asks Killer Bee to train him in controlling the Kyubi, but he does not like Naruto's "attitude" so Naruto tries to great him with an Enka Rap and it was actually pretty funny... Killer Bee also liked it.

- They bump fists and Killer Bee asks Naruto to give him a beat, he utterly fails at that and pisses off Killer Bee so he tries the Harem Jutsu as a last resort, and Bee just shuts the door on him...

- Naruto asks one of the Kumogakure ninjas to help him find out the secret of controlling Biju and he decides to help Naruto out after hearing that he bumped fists with Bee.

- He takes Naruto to a waterfall and tells him to sit in this area near the falls with no water in it and close his eyes.

- The chapter ends when he opens his eyes he is confronted with an evil version of himself [insert Evil Dead reference here].

Bleach Chapter 401

Current Fight: Ichigo Vs Gin and Isshin Vs Aizen

- I previously read these chapters earlier in the day... And I am gonna be honest, this is gonna be a bitch to explain... Or maybe it will be.

- Ok so Aizen says he is on his last rope as a Shinigami but the Hogyoku is starting to... uhhh understand his will or something like that...

- He says that the Hogyoku has a consciousness and that Kisuke was wrong about what the Hogyoku's purpose was.

- Aizen says that it's true power is to make real what is in the hearts of those around it, which explains why Ichigo got so much of Rukia's power (she was still not over Kaien's death or something) and why Chad and Orihime got their powers.

- Aizen explains that the reason Kisuke thought the Hogyoku was for controlling the boundary between hollows and soul reapers was because that was what he wanted it to do in his heart.

- Aizen also says that hollowfying the Vaizords was just a test to see the Hogyoku's limits, and since they are Vaizords and not just simply Soul Reapers (sorry if you prefer Shinigami but I did see the dub first... so yeah...) he realized it had it's limits.

- Aizen and Isshin's talk is interrupted by Gin's Bankai crashing into the building.

- Just as the Hogyoku is like... fusing with Aizen or something, Kisuke shows up and blasts right through Aizen... Oh and that is where the chapter ends.
